Transcendence is a buzzword, especially among talk of spirituality. But what does it mean to be embodied? What does it mean to be intentionally created with the limits of a entropic body?
Flailing as an embodied creature, I beg
That I might not fight these limitations
But instead I may know you through your immanence
Your reverse transcendence, spiraling downward
For the sake of the lowly.
Like Adam, like Eve, I yearn to rise
To your capacious level of existence – surpassing all knowledge.
My recalcitrant being, locked in sin of the self delusional,
Fraught with insipid self-importance, cries out.
Orient me now, here, forever towards the Christ of the lowly,
Met among the calloused and putrid feet of those we trample.
Make me low and in your love make me whole, Christ of the lowly.
